Days 2 and 3: Istanbul, Troia, and Assos

Our second day was full of exciting new adventures which left us not enough time to update the blog, so today we will share a little bit of both days.  Yesterday, Day 2, started with a walking tour of the Hippodrome, Blue Mosque, and Hagia Sofia.  Next was lunch at the ever popular Cozy Pub followed by a bus ride to the Chora Museum.  After that we went on a boat cruise on the Bosphorus where we saw universities, palaces, a castle, and our eyelids! This was a great, long day and we were all exhausted by the end.  I think our body clocks were still adjusting.  The evening was spent on our own free time to walk around, grab dinner, and hang out with new friends.

Day 3 began very early with a 6am wake up call for the start of a 7am bus ride to Troia.  Along the way, we stopped for restrooms and tea, then lunch in Gelibolu.  Then, we took a car ferry across the Dardanelles straight to Canakkale, where our bus tour continued on to Troia.  At Troia, we played in and took many pictures of the giant Trojan horse (which is actually a myth).  After seeing the ruins, we continued on to Assos.  The scenery was very green and there were lots of sheep and farmers.  The last part of the road to the hotel was very narrow and bumpy, which was interesting for our huge bus!  We walked the rest of the way to the hotel was by foot and it was absolutely beautiful. Our hotel is right on the sea, and we can see the Greek island Lesbos from our windows!  This is absolutely one of the most beautiful places many of us have ever been in our lives.
